He is the god of childbirth, fertility, agriculture and hunting, but also of brewing. He is also a powerful god of war, strength, bravery, love, passion and fertility.

Image: His most common depiction is of a handsome young man in white linen robes on a bare-footed gray horse, with a wreath of spring wildflowers on his head, riding wildly through fields, woods, and gardens.

Symbols: Sun disc, svarga, wildflowers and bees, golden shield. His number is two and the world side is west.

Sacrifices: Bread, pies, pastries, grinders, hides, seeds, grain, porridge, milk, flowers, ribbons, fruit, honey and kvass. It is sacrificed by being thrown into the flames of the sacred fire.

Holidays: Spring equinox, St George's Day - days of the snake on 4/24, full moon day before May 1st.

Note: In this period, in honor of Jaril, before the start of sowing, a sacred tree (May), richly decorated with ribbons, was built. There was also a ceremony where the most beautiful young man and girl were chosen to be the king and queen. As part of the Jaril ceremonies, a male figure with a mask and a wooden phallus celebrated a wedding with a woman, who then pretended to be pregnant and give birth. Ritual plowing and sowing were performed along with this ritual. It is said that during his sacred day, snakes and lizards crawl out of the ground, and thus, at this time, Jarilo unlocks the ground with a golden key. In Christianity, we can find this deity in the form of St. George wrestling with the dragon.
