PORENUT

PORENUT

Function: The son of Perun, also called Porenutius, is the deity of knowledge and wisdom, clairvoyance, speech and writing. He is the guardian of the well of wisdom and the embodiment of the divine teacher.

Image: He has five faces, most of them with a thoughtful expression, some of them even sly. He rarely appears in armor, but his gaze is forward, backward, and sideways, meaning he is alert at all times. The fifth face is on his chest; he holds it with his left hand touching his forehead and holds it by his chin with his right.

Symbols: Well, trout, oak.

Sacrifices: Bread, pies, porridge, meads, wine, as well as weapons and spoils of war, coins, eggs, fish.

Holidays: The period dedicated to him is the time of the waxing of the moon before the earthquakes.

Note: He is not inherently a warrior, but is a divine strategist who is therefore invoked before battle, as well as before passing judgment or decision. As a divine teacher, he is always happy to tap into the well of wisdom and give a drink of knowledge to anyone who is willing to listen.

His gesture of holding his fifth head symbolizes that if his neck were cut off, he would still have one head. This head cannot be taken from him, so Porenut will always have his own reason and clear judgment.
